Saturn is a notes app that keeps your notes on your own computer, in your own folder. There is no Saturn account, no Saturn server holding your writing, and no analytics of any kind. This page says exactly what that means rather than reserving rights we do not use.

What the app collects

Nothing. Saturn contains no analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting code, and it does not transmit your notes, your file names, your usage, or anything identifying you to us or to anyone else.

Your notes are Markdown files in a folder you chose. Saturn reads and writes that folder and nothing outside it.

When the app uses the network

There are exactly two occasions, and both are visible to you.

  • Checking for updates. Saturn asks this website for a small file listing the current version. That request is an ordinary web request, so our host records what any web server records — an IP address, a timestamp, and the requested path — and no profile of your Mac is sent with it. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings.
  • Buying a licence. Choosing to buy opens your web browser at this site, which hands you to Stripe. That happens only when you start a purchase.

Everything else — writing, searching, syncing, exporting, dictating — happens without the network. Saturn is fully usable offline.

Sync

If you keep your vault in iCloud Drive, Apple syncs that folder between your devices exactly as it syncs any other iCloud Drive folder, under Apple’s privacy policy. We are not a party to it and never see the contents. You can also keep your vault in a local folder, in which case nothing syncs at all.

Dictation and the microphone

Dictation uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed on your Mac, is never written to disk by Saturn, and is never uploaded. The microphone is only ever active while you are dictating, and macOS shows its own indicator when it is.

Buying, and what Stripe holds

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record. Stripe collects your email address and payment details and applies its own privacy policy; we never receive or store your card details.

What we do with your email address is limited to the sale: your licence is issued in your name, and we email it to you so that you can recover it later. We do not run a mailing list and will not send you marketing.

Your licence is a small signed file. Once it reaches the app it is verified on your Mac, with no network call — Saturn never checks in to confirm you are still allowed to use it.

This website

This site sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics scripts. It is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs. The checkout pages are Stripe’s and are covered by Stripe’s policy.

Children

Saturn is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we hold almost nothing, most data requests have a short answer. The only personal data we have is the email address attached to a purchase. Write to support@saturnnotes.com to ask what that record contains, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Deleting it does not affect your licence, which is already signed and works without us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that made Saturn collect anything at all would be announced in the release notes for the version that did it, not published quietly here.
