Terms
Last updated 22 August 2026
These terms cover buying and using Saturn. They are written to be read, and they are short because the arrangement is simple: you buy the app once, and it is then yours.
The licence
Buying Saturn gives you a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to use it. One licence covers one person on all of the Macs they use. The app does not expire, does not require an account, and does not contact us to confirm you are still entitled to run it.
Your licence is a signed file issued in your name. Please do not share or publish it. Beyond that, we do not count your machines or check up on you — the deterrent is that it has your name on it, and that is the amount of deterrent we think this is worth.
You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute Saturn itself, or attempt to remove or defeat the licence checks. Everything you write with it is entirely yours; we claim no rights over your notes.
The trial
Saturn is free and fully functional for 14 days, with no card and no account. If the trial ends and you have not bought a licence, the app becomes read-only: your notes stay open, searchable, exportable and copyable, and the Markdown files in your own folder are unaffected either way. What stops is writing new text in Saturn.
Refunds
If Saturn is not for you, email support@saturnnotes.com within 30 days of your purchase and we will refund it in full. You do not have to give a reason and we will not argue with you.
This is in addition to, and never instead of, any statutory right of withdrawal you have where you live — including the 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU and UK.
Updates and the support period
Every 1.x update is free. Your licence carries a support end date, at least 5 years after you buy, and it is shown to you before you pay and recorded on the licence itself.
Within that period, security updates and macOS compatibility fixes are free — including after any future major version has shipped. A future major version may charge for new features. It will never charge for a security fix.
If a version 2.0 ships, it will be a separate purchase at roughly half price, and free to anyone who bought within the six months before it.
Price
Saturn is $29 at launch and will rise to $49. A licence bought at the launch price stays valid forever and is not affected by the increase. Prices are in US dollars; tax is calculated and shown at checkout.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe, acting as merchant of record. Your receipt comes from Stripe and your card details never reach us.
Warranty and liability
Saturn is provided as it is, without warranties beyond those the law gives you and does not allow us to exclude. To the extent the law permits, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the licence.
The practical point matters more than the legal one: your notes are plain Markdown files in a folder you control. If Saturn fails, is abandoned, or you simply stop wanting it, your writing is still sitting there in a format every other tool can read. Keep backups anyway — of that folder, like any other folder that matters.
Changes
These terms may change for future purchases. The terms that apply to you are the ones published on the day you bought, and the date at the top says which those were.
